Due to its robust knotting, the Sarough is a hard-wearing carpet with high sound and heat insulation. The wool used is of high quality, shiny and the carpets are robust and hard-wearing. The knotting is very fine and the pile is relatively high. Its timeless design blends easily into its surroundings and gives it a cosy feel. Today, carpets of various qualities are knotted in Sarough. The pattern variety of the carpets is among the richest and most traditional in the entire Orient and thus cannot be generalised. They are known for their beautiful medallions, as well as for the well-known patterned Mir pattern.
