How Are Our Rugs Made?

For us, people are at the heart of everything we do. This philosophy shapes all areas of our company – from the personal care we offer our customers to the respectful relationships we build with our weavers. Only under fair conditions can long-term partnerships flourish and the most beautiful products be created. We believe in fair compensation for this craftsmanship. That’s why our rugs are priced differently than mass-produced ones. Sustainability is a core value for us. We reject throwaway culture.

RUGMARK Foundation

RUGMARK Foundation

RUGMARK, an initiative to combat illegal child labor in the rug industry, was founded in 1994 by Indian rug manufacturers, exporters, and leading NGOs. The goal was to eliminate child labor through positive solutions rather than facing the social and economic consequences of banning it outright. Together with UNICEF and the German-Indian Export Promotion Project (IGEP) by the German Development Agency (GTZ), the RUGMARK system was established. Today, RUGMARK is a trademarked certification assuring importers and buyers that rugs are produced by companies committed to working without illegal child labor and complying with an effective monitoring system.
