Gold tones add warm, sunny accents, especially with dark furniture and light walls. Our gold rugs are mainly modern Gabbeh and Loribaft rugs, plus Oriental rugs such as Ziegler and Tabriz.

Gold brings light and warmth into a room. The colour ranges from light honey through rich ochre to deep amber and always looks friendly and inviting. A gold rug brightens dark rooms, gives light rooms depth and makes wood, leather and brass look particularly refined.
In the living room, a gold rug harmonises with sofas in grey, dark blue or petrol, which complement the warm tone with coolness. Whether 170 x 240 cm, 200 x 300 cm or 250 x 350 cm: the usual sizes cover small and large seating groups alike. If you are looking for a calm look, choose a simple design with a fine border. Our living room rugs show interior examples in many colours.
Under the dining table, gold creates a warm, convivial atmosphere, especially with tables in dark wood. In the bedroom, a gold rug feels like a ray of morning sunshine and goes well with bed linen in white, grey or blue. Smaller sizes such as 120 x 180 cm or 100 x 150 cm sit well beside the bed.
A good four in five of our gold rugs are modern rugs. Half come from India, a third from Persia, plus pieces from Afghanistan and Nepal. Around two in five are hand-knotted, a third hand-woven, and the rest hand-tufted or woven. The material in nearly all designs is virgin wool. Besides the modern designs, there are Oriental rugs such as Ziegler, 50 Raj Tabriz and Farahan, as well as woven rugs with Oriental patterns.
Gabbeh rugs from India and Persia make up the largest share. They show gold as a calm, lively shaded surface, often with a narrow border or a few motifs. Loribaft rugs are a little more finely knotted and look particularly calm and refined. Minimalist patterns and borders are the most common in this shade.
Nepal rugs combine gold with finely graded tones and simple shapes. Modern kilims bring graphic patterns and a flat, light construction. They are joined by individual classic rugs with a medallion, in which gold forms the warm ground for blue and red.
A good four in five gold rugs are rectangular, a good one in ten is a runner, and there are a few square and round designs. Common sizes are 170 x 240 cm, 200 x 300 cm, 100 x 150 cm, 120 x 180 cm and 150 x 200 cm.
Most of our gold rugs are made of wool and look warm and matt. The name describes the colour, not a metallic sheen. If you are looking for sheen, you should filter for designs with silk or viscose.
Muted gold and ochre tones are surprisingly versatile. They look warm rather than loud and combine well with neutral colours. A simple design with a border is calmer than a heavily patterned one.
Gold is warmer and deeper, mustard yellow more muted and earthier. You will find a dedicated selection among the mustard yellow rugs.
We show all yellow and gold tones together under Yellow Rugs.
