Green rugs in the oriental style

In oriental rugs, green is rarer than red or blue, which is exactly what makes it special. Depending on the shade, it is reminiscent of gardens, forests or jade: olive green and dark green bring calm and depth to a room, while light green and mint look fresh and light. This page shows only oriental rugs in shades of green; you will find modern green rugs in our Green Rugs collection.

Kazak, Ziegler, Tabriz and Nain

Green Kazak rugs with bold geometric patterns and Ziegler rugs with large-scale floral motifs are particularly common. They are joined by Tabriz rugs in 50 Raj, Nain rugs in 6La and 9La, as well as Ghom, Moud, Yalameh and Ardebil rugs and Kilims from Fars.

Material and origin

Almost all green oriental rugs in our range are hand-knotted, and some are handwoven. Alongside new wool and Kurk wool, many rugs have silk knotted into them, which gives the green a lively sheen. A good half come from Persia, a large proportion from Afghanistan.

Sizes

Our green oriental rugs are especially often available in handy sizes such as 80 x 120 cm and 100 x 150 cm – in front of the bed, in the entrance or as an accent in front of the sofa. There are also living-room sizes up to 200 x 300 cm, oriental runners and a few square rugs.

Furnishing with a green oriental rug

Green combines with wood, rattan and plants almost by itself. With white and cream, a green oriental rug looks fresh; with brass, cognac and dark wood, classic and inviting. Rosé and terracotta add warm accents as a contrast.

Frequently asked questions about green oriental rugs

Which shades of green are available in oriental rugs?

In our range you will find oriental rugs in green, light green, olive green, dark green and mint green. You can select the individual shades in the filter.

Does a green oriental rug go with a green sofa?

Yes, if the shades are clearly different – for example a dark green rug with a sofa in light sage green. Alternatively, a sofa in cream, cognac or grey forms a calm counterpoint.
