Small, round and often colourful: in 120 x 120 cm you will mainly find modern round children's rugs made of wool, plus a few oriental rugs, Kilims and jute rugs.

With a side length or diameter of 120 cm, this format is small enough for corners and niches and large enough to create a zone of its own. Round, it looks soft and can be placed freely in the room; square, it fits neatly against walls and into niches. Round rugs are clearly in the majority here; for them, 120 x 120 cm refers to the diameter. The page shows pieces with side lengths or diameters of around 110 to 130 cm.
Most of the selection consists of modern round children's rugs. They are hand-tufted from wool in India and show motifs for children in cheerful colours, multicoloured or in shades such as pink, blue and yellow. In a child's room, a rug like this marks out a play or reading island without covering the whole floor. In front of a child's bed, it feels pleasant underfoot in the morning.
There is also a smaller number of oriental and natural pieces. These include Kilims, for example from Fars, among them semi-antique pieces around 50 to 75 years old. Loribaft and Bidjar rugs as well as rugs from China are added. Jute rugs complete the selection with a coarse, natural surface in natural tones.
Under an armchair with a side table, it creates a reading corner; under a small round coffee table, a calm centrepiece. In the bedroom, a round rug sits well next to the bed or in front of a chest of drawers. Because the format is so easy to handle, it can be picked up, shaken out and moved to another spot without effort.
In tufting, the yarn is shot through a stretched backing fabric with a hand-guided tool. The back is then glued and covered with fabric. This creates a dense, even pile on which coloured motifs stand out clearly.
On a smooth floor it can slide. A non-slip underlay, cut slightly smaller than the rug, keeps it in place, especially in a child's room, where there is a lot of playing and running.
Yes, but less often, mainly as a Kilim. You will find more small formats under square oriental rugs and round oriental rugs.
