Yellow Oriental Rugs

Yellow rugs in the oriental style

Yellow is one of the rarer colours in oriental rugs. Where it does appear, it usually takes the form of warm gold, saffron or mustard yellow – tones that brighten a room while giving it depth. A yellow oriental rug is therefore often a piece you will not find in every home. This page shows only oriental rugs in yellow and gold; you will find modern yellow rugs in our Yellow Rugs collection.

Yalameh, Tabriz and Ziegler

Most common are yellow Yalameh rugs with their typical geometric patterns, along with Tabriz rugs in 50 Raj and Ziegler rugs. Individual Farahan, Ghom, Baluch and Afshar rugs, as well as Kilims from Fars, complete the selection.

Hand-knotted, from Persia and Afghanistan

Almost all of our yellow oriental rugs are hand-knotted, and some are handwoven. They come mainly from Persia, some from Afghanistan. The pile is mostly new wool, on some rugs Kurk wool or with knotted-in silk; some are very finely knotted, with more than 560,000 knots per square metre.

Sizes

The range extends from small sizes such as 80 x 120 cm up to 200 x 300 cm and larger. There are also yellow oriental runners and a few square rugs. As most are one-of-a-kind pieces, each size is often available only once.

Furnishing with a yellow oriental rug

Golden yellow looks particularly beautiful with dark blue, petrol and deep green, as well as with walnut and brass. In bright rooms with white or grey furniture, a yellow oriental rug brings sunshine into the room without being loud.

Frequently asked questions about yellow oriental rugs

Are there classic oriental rugs in yellow?

Yes, but more rarely than in red, blue or beige. Gold and mustard tones are common in Yalameh, Tabriz and Ziegler rugs.

Which colours go with a yellow oriental rug?

Cool tones such as dark blue, petrol and grey form a calm counterpoint. With white and light wood, yellow looks fresh; with dark wood, warm and classic.
