Beige rugs in the oriental style

A beige oriental rug combines the ornamentation and craftsmanship of the Orient with the lightness that today's living spaces look for. Beige, sand and cream tones soften patterns and make a room appear larger. On this page we show only oriental rugs in beige and light natural tones; you will find modern beige rugs in our Beige Rugs collection.

Ziegler, Tabriz, Moud and Nain

The largest group is made up of Ziegler rugs with generous floral and tendril patterns on a light ground. Also strongly represented are Tabriz rugs in 50 Raj, Moud rugs and Nain rugs in 6La, 9La and 12La. Kashmar, Keshan, Bidjar and Ariana rugs round off the selection.

Fine knotting and plenty of silk

Almost all beige oriental rugs in our range are hand-knotted. A striking feature is the high proportion of rugs with knotted-in silk, which shines subtly on the light ground. Some are among the exceptionally finely knotted pieces, with up to one million knots per square metre. Most of the rugs come from Persia, many from Afghanistan, and a few from India, Pakistan, China and Turkey.

Sizes and shapes

The selection ranges from small sizes from 40 x 60 cm, through the classics 200 x 300 cm and 250 x 350 cm, to very large rugs. For hallways and stairwells there are beige oriental runners, as well as square oriental rugs and round pieces.

Furnishing with a beige oriental rug

Beige goes with almost every type of wood, and with linen, rattan and natural stone. If you like a classic look, combine a beige Tabriz or Nain with dark furniture; in a Scandinavian or minimalist room, a light Ziegler adds pattern without looking busy. As accent colours, sage green, smoky blue or terracotta pick up the secondary colours of many patterns.

Frequently asked questions about beige oriental rugs

Is a light oriental rug easy to care for in everyday life?

Light rugs show dirt faster than dark ones. However, the dense wool of hand-knotted oriental rugs is hard-wearing, and the pattern hides a lot. It is best to blot stains immediately with an absorbent cloth; for a thorough clean, we offer professional rug cleaning.

What is the difference between beige, sand and cream?

Cream is lighter and slightly yellowish, beige is warmer and a little darker, while sand and dark beige tend towards brown. In the filter you can select each tone individually.

What size do I need for the living room?

As a rule of thumb, at least the front legs of the sofa and armchairs should stand on the rug. In many living rooms, 200 x 300 cm or 250 x 350 cm fits well.
