Details
These beautiful carpets are knotted in the holy city of Ghom in central Persia. The Ghom carpet is one of the most exclusive knotted works of art in the Orient. It comes in three variations: Cork wool on cotton Cork wool with silk on cotton Silk on silk Even the Ghom carpet variation cork wool on cotton is outstanding. Cork wool comes from the shearing of the lamb's neck. For that reason, it is soft, greasy, extremely dirt-repellent, and highly resistant to damage. Thin threads can be spun from the cork wool to produce a fine weave in dense knots. The other Ghom carpet variations speak for themselves. The more silk a carpet has, the finer the knotting, the more detailed the pattern and the higher the quality of the carpet.
